The Murder of Former NFL Star Steve McNair - The Details So Far

steve-mcnair-murdered

On July 4th, Steve McNair - a former NFL quaterback who played for the Tennessee Titans and an NFL MVP in 2003 - was found dead in his home from multiple gunshot wounds including one to the head.  A female, who was tentatively unidentified though was confirmed as not being McNair’s wife, was also found in the home dead.  A pistol was found near the bodies.

Statements were later issued including:

Nashville Metro PD spokesman Don Aaron: “When police officers arrived in response to that call, they found two individuals who had been shot to death inside the residence: one female, one male. We now know that the male deceased is Steve McNair. The female deceased has been tentatively identified. We’re working to confirm that and then notify her next of kin.”

Titans owner K.S. “Bud” Adams Jr.:  “We are saddened and shocked to hear the news of Steve McNair’s passing today. He was one of the finest players to play for our organization and one of the most beloved players by our fans. He played with unquestioned heart and leadership and led us to places that we had never reached, including our only Super Bowl. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family as they deal with his untimely passing.”

The deceased woman was later identified as Sahel Kazemi.

Nashville PD now believe that McNair and Kazemi “had been in a dating relationship” and recent photos of the pair on vacation have been found.

The investigation appears to be leading toward murder/suicide.  McNair’s death has been ruled a Homicide, though Kazemi’s death has yet to be classified pending additional investigation.

Ex-New Englang Patriots Linebacker Charged with 1994 Murder

Eric Naposki, a former NFL linebacker for the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts in the late 1980s, has been charged with one count murder along with ex-girlfriend Nanette Packard McNeal for the 1994 murder of multimillionaire William Francis McLaughlin.

McNeal, who was linked to McLauglin at the time of his death, stood to collect $1 million in life insurance and this montetary gain has long been thought as the motive for McLaughlin’s death.  Naposki and McNeal have also long been thought as suspects in the case, but were never charged primarily due to the fact that the 9mm handgun used in the murder was never recovered.

A spokeswoman for the Orange County district attorney’s office said that “we feel at this point we have sufficient evidence to prove they were responsible for the death of Mr. McLaughlin,” though they declined to say what that evidence was.

Star of The Sopranos and A Bronx Tale Guilty of Attempted Burglary

Lillo Brancato Jr. Found Guilty

Lillo Brancato Jr. Found Guilty

Actor Lillo Brancato Jr, who starred in a few early episodes of The Sopranos and co-starred alongside Robert DeNiro in A Bronx Tale, has been found guilty on charges of attempted burglary.

The criminal case stems back to 2005, when Brancato and his friend Steven Armento broke into a man’s home looking for Valium.  Brancato said during his trial that the home’s owner gave them permission to stop by whenever they wanted some pills.

The criminal activity took a tragic turn when during the break-in Daniel Enchautegui, a cop that lived next door, came by to investigate. Armento shot the off-duty cop in the chest, who died at the scene. Enchautegui shot both Brancato and Armento several times before dying. Armento was found guilty of murder in November, and was sentenced to life in prison.

While Brancato was found guilty of attempted burglary, he was acquitted on two other burglary counts and a murder charge. Brancato could face up to 15 years for the attempted burglary charge.
