Yesterday, the family of Gabriela Cedillo, filed a lawsuit against Paramount Pictures for an injury that she sustained on the set during a stunt that went wrong.
The paper work filed by Cedillo’s attorney Todd A. Smith, a Chicago car accident lawyer with Power Rogers and Smith, described that the accident involved a broken towing cable snapping through the car Cedillo was driving and hitting her in the head. On Tuesday Smth said that Cedillo is “unable to speak and is paralyzed on her left side… It looks like she has vision loss in the left eye, which is sewn shut because there’s a paralysis associated with that and they don’t want her eye to dry out.”
Paramount, which did not directly respond to the lawsuit stated that their “thoughts, prayers and best wishes are with Gabriela, her family and loved ones. The production will continue to provide all the help we can to Gabriela and her family during this difficult time.”
Smith is seeking money in excess of $50,000 for Cedillo.

Winona Ryder and founder of Depeche Mode Martin Lee Gore have both been subpoenaed as part of a lawsuit against Activision Blizzard and their massively multiplayer online (MMO) game World of Warcraft which was filed by November 24th in the Civil Division of the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara by Erik Estavillo.
Among Estavillo’s complaints are that the game is designed to make players “walk or run at a calculated slow pace, resulting in the player taking longer to get where he or she needs to go in the game”, thus forcing the player to take longer to finish quests and thus the player having to purchase additional subscriptions to continue playing.
Estavillo has additionally stated that health problems, including OCD, Agoraphobia, Panic Disorder, major depression and Crohn’s Disease are because he “relies on video games heavily for the little ongoing happiness he can achieve in this life”.
Here is where Ryder and Gore come in. Estavillo has subpoenaed both of them to speak about his behalf regarding the subject of alienation. Gore is subpoenaed since “he himself has been known to be sad, lonely, and alienated as can be seen in the songs he writes.” Ryder is subpoenaed due to her interest in the J.D. Salinger book The Catcher in the Rye, which Estavillo also has a common interest in. Estavillo says that Ryder could “explain the significance of alienation in Catcher in the Rye and will also testify to how alienation in the book can tie to alienation in real live/video games such as World of Warcraft.”
Estavillo is seeking punitive damages of $1.0 million and a court order that Activision Blizzard implement changes in WOW that address the issues of his complaint.

Today news broke of a nude video that has been leaked featuring Eric Dane of “Gray’s Anatomy”, his wife Rebecca Gayheart and former beauty queen Kari Ann Peniche.
The tape purportedly shows the trio in various states of undress hanging out at Peniche’s Southern California apartment, with the trio taking turn filming each other hanging out.
Mere hours after the story broke a legal representative for Dane and Gayheart, Marty Singer, made a statement that the video is “a private, confidential tape” and is ready to sue anyone who published the video.
There is currently no word on how the video was leaked, and if anyone is seeking to publicize the tape.

Last week on July 16th, a video was posted on an adult-oriented website that was filmed through a hotel door peephole and showing a nude woman. Although not specifically named, the video description hinted that it was a “blonde who looks a lot like a sports blogger favorite in her hotel room.”
In less than twenty four hours after posting, the website received the following statement from ESPN.
I am the General Counsel of ESPN, Inc. It has come to my attention that you have posted on your site pictures of a young, blonde woman at [redacted]. These pictures were obviously taken through a peephole or otherwise in a fashion constituting a trespass/assault on the rights of the woman involved. Your continued posting of these pictures are highly likely to render you an accessory after the fact to a criminal act. We hereby demand that you (i) immediately remove these pictures from your site and (ii) disclose to us the source of the pictures. We intend to hold you fully responsible for further display of material that so obviously violates the law.
Please confirm by return e-mail that you intend to comply with these demands. In the absence of such confirmation we will assume you are an active and willing participant in these acts.
David Pahl
The video was taken down, though the blog’s proprietor Doug Sheckler has stated will not name the original source of the video.
Andrews’ lawyer later made a statement via a Newswire press release:
“While alone in the privacy of her hotel room, Erin Andrews was surreptitiously videotaped without her knowledge or consent. She was the victim of a crime and is taking action to protect herself and help ensure that others are not similarly violated in the future. Although the perpetrator or perpetrators of this criminal act have not yet been identified, when they are identified she intends to bring both civil and criminal charges against them and against anyone who has published the material. We request respect of Erin’s privacy at this time, while she and her representatives are working with the authorities.”
We’ll have more on this story as it continues, and provide information if and when the culprits have been identified.

Jackson Sued Over Thriller Profits
Over twenty-five years after the 14 minute video for Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” was produced as well as an accompanying making-of documentary, and with word spreading that a Thriller musical will be hitting Broadway, video director and co-writer John Landis is suing over profits from the video.
Landis, best known for Animal House and An American Werewolf in London, says that his 1983 contract with Jackson entitles him to 50 percent of all profits, and that Jackson “wrongfully refused to pay or account for such profits.” The suit goes on to note that Jackson has not given accounting information on the video’s profits for that past four years and that he is “guilty of fraudulent, malicious and oppressive conduct.”
The suit was officially filed on January 21st, and Jackson’s lawyers have yet to comment on it.
While we wait for more information to come to light, what say we watch said video in question, courtesy of YouTube.
